New York Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney on Monday threw his support behind Joe Biden's presidential bid, touting what he said was the former vice president's ability to defeat President Donald Trump in November and unify the country once in office.
In an interview with POLITICO, Maloney repeatedly emphasized Biden’s electability, predicting that the vice president would be able to defeat President Donald Trump in a district like his in New York's Hudson Valley, which voted for Trump by 2 points in 2016. At the same time, Maloney said Biden would be able to "inspire people across the country," not just rural voters who have drifted away from the Democratic Party.
