New York Liberty forward Jonquel Jones holds up the MVP trophy after defeating the Minnesota Lynx in overtime to win the 2024 WNBA Finals at Barclays Center, Oct. 20, 20024 in Brooklyn.This was Jones' fourth WNBA Finals appearance, proving for the 30-year-old, who left home in the Bahamas as a teenager to pursue her education and basketball at the elite level, that the win was worth the wait.
"To just be able to see how far we've come in a short amount of time and be able to do this, obviously for each other, but for this organization that's believed in us since the beginning, you can't really put into words -- it feels amazing," the star guard said. Breanna Stewart, a two-time WNBA MVP and the team's star forward, talked redemption when it mattered most after some disappointing missed free throws earlier in the series.
