New York House Republicans on Thursday moved to force a vote on whether to expel their embattled and indicted colleague Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., from Congress. The privileged resolution offered by Rep. Anthony D'Esposito, R-N.Y., means the House must vote on the resolution within two legislative days. A two-thirds majority vote would be needed to expel the congressman, who's scheduled to be arraigned on Friday on a superseding indictment in his federal fraud case.

Mike Johnson, R-La., was elected speaker to proceed out of 'deference' and to give him a day to 'bask in the glow' of his win, but added, 'it’s never the wrong time to do the right thing.
