It's here! NYFW's new five-day schedule has been announced.
would be just five days long. Shortened from its typical timeline, the new week was devised to lure more international press and retailers to NYFW as well as create a more streamlined and compact week. Today we have a first look at Ford’s vision for the new New York Fashion Week, which starts with Telfar on September 6 and culminates with Marc Jacobs, as always, on September 11.
The shortened schedule raised some concern initially that many brands would be left out or cut; however many of New York’s power players remain. The Row, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Proenza Schouler, Coach 1941, Anna Sui, Prabal Gurung, Gabriela Hearst, Brandon Maxwell, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, and Ford himself are all included on the schedule, as are smaller brands like Snow Xue Gao and Matthew Adams Dolan.
The initial schedule is likely to evolve, with brands planning off-piste shows, dinners, and parties in lieu of traditional runway shows. Vogue Runway will be keeping track of all this and more once the season kicks off on September 6. Stay tuned!
