A new poll reveals that nearly half of New York City residents have considered leaving due to financial pressures, with a majority struggling to afford basic necessities. The survey also highlights a growing sense of unease about the city's future and a mental health crisis, with a majority expressing empathy for those struggling despite safety concerns.

Almost half of Big Apple residents say they've considered leaving New York City because of mounting financial pressure, with a staggering 61% saying it's increasingly difficult to pay for basic needs, according to a new poll.

Twenty-three percent said they "mostly feel anger and frustration at people who are struggling with these issues and acting out in public while making life harder for other New Yorkers." Another 17% chose to write in a different response. The survey found the highest support for mental health and housing support programs from Black and Hispanic respondents and those who live in Manhattan.
