New York City has agreed to settle with protesters who said they were cornered by police during a demonstration soon after the 2020 death of George Floyd.
The city will pay at least $21,500 to each person who alleged they were arrested, detained or subject to force from police officers during the protest in the Bronx. Protesters said they were boxed in by police, a tactic known as kettling, and some were beaten.
