New York City Mayor Eric Adams is taking the border crisis into his own hands.
The Democratic mayor is side-stepping the Biden administration and attempting to intervene in the historic wave of immigration bringing people from South America, Central America, and Mexico to the United States, according to a city hall announcement.Adams will visit Mexico City on Wednesday, then head to Puebla, Mexico, before going on to Quito, Ecuador, then Bogota, Colombia, and the Darien jungle between Panama and Colombia.
Adams previously visited the U.S.-Mexico border in January, where he called on national leaders to do more to stop the immigration crisis. The timing of Adams's trip outside the U.S. now is no coincidence. The city has already received requests for assistance from more than 110,000 illegal immigrants who were released at the border and traveled north to the Big Apple.
