U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi launches into her tenure with directives to combat illegal immigration, drug cartels, and violent gangs.
Newly sworn-in U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi wasted no time on her first day in office, issuing a series of directives aimed at tackling illegal immigration, drug cartels , and violent gangs. According to a Wednesday report obtained by Fox News, Bondi instructed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to halt all federal funding for sanctuary cities , a move reflecting her strong stance against jurisdictions that shield undocumented immigrants from federal law enforcement.
Bondi also ordered the DOJ to conduct a comprehensive review of funding allocated to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that provide support to illegal migrants. This action suggests a potential shift in policy regarding the role of NGOs in assisting undocumented individuals.Furthermore, Bondi emphasized the need to combat transnational criminal organizations by directing the DOJ to bolster Joint Task Force Vulcan, responsible for dismantling MS-13, and Joint Task Force Alpha, focused on human trafficking. These task forces are expected to expand their scope to include the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which poses a growing threat within the United States. To combat the opioid crisis, Bondi instructed the DOJ Office of Legal Policy to identify legislative reforms aimed at disrupting the production of fentanyl pills. She also sought to classify the deadly drug Xylazine as a Schedule III controlled substance, signifying its growing concern as a public health threat
