Jeffrey Epstein's alleged co-conspirators could face prosecution as Attorney General William Barr said, 'victims deserve justice and they will get it.'
: In the wake of Jeffrey Epstein’s death, authorities have said they will continue their investigation into the financier’s alleged sex trafficking crimes and could expand the investigation to target new suspects.: “Let me assure you that the case will continue on against anyone who was complicit with Epstein,” adding that “any co-conspirators should not rest easy. Victims deserve justice and will get it.
His comments were echoed by Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S Berman, who said: “To those brave women who have already come forward and to those who have yet to do so, let me reiterate that we commit to standing for you and our investigation of the conduct charged in the indictment, which includes conspiracy, remains ongoing.”
Epstein’s death in his prison cell on Saturday, believed to be suicide, upset some of his alleged victims. Brad Edwards, who represents some Epstein accusers,: “The fact that Jeffrey Epstein was allowed to commit the selfish act of taking his own life as his world of abuse, exploitation, and corruption unravelled is unfortunate yet predictable.
Epstein’s indictment says he “worked and conspired with others, including employees and associates who facilitated his conduct” to bring girls as young as 14 to his Manhattan and Palm Beach houses between 2002 and 2005. “The fact that they brought a conspiracy charge indicates to me that they have other people in mind,” Rebecca Roiphe, a professor at the New York School of Law told the
