Longtime local restaurateur Jacquèe Renna says the moment she rode the elevator to the top of the new Sasan apartment building in Mission Hills, she was sold on the view.
Renna said her goal was to create two community-focused and affordable restaurants where local residents can feel comfortable coming together regularly over food and drinks, rather than just for special occasions. That’s why she named her new restaurant Communion. Renna makes her home in La Quinta, where she owns the La Quinta Cliffhouse restaurant, as well as Pacifica Seafood restaurant in Palm Desert. But she grew up here in North County and she longed to open a restaurant in her hometown. Her late husband, Kipp Downing, who passed away from cancer in 2021, once owned three Pacifica restaurants around San Diego County before selling or closing them years ago.
