New RapidRide bus line launching next year to improve service in south King County

A groundbreaking event will mark the start of construction onthe King County Metro RapidRide I Line.

-- which currently runs between Renton, Kent, and Auburn -- and a new corridor to improve transit access in south King County. It will connect the transit centers in those cities, as well as the RapidRide F Line, Sound Transit buses, Sounder trains, and local bus service.

Once finished, the line will improve access to jobs, schools, and essential services, according to King County officials. The new RapidRide line will serve tens of thousands of residents along a 17-mile route, making it easier for passengers to travel to and from regional destinations and major employment centers across King County and beyond. Officials say the future bus line will deliver faster, more frequent service throughout the day, including evenings and weekends. It's planned to operate every 10 minutes during peak weekday periods, every 15 minutes off-peak, and every 30 minutes late at night.
