The movement to ban cellphones in public schools is gaining momentum across the country.
FILE - A ninth grader places his cellphone into a phone holder as he enters class at Delta High School, Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, in Delta, Utah. At least 11 states have passed laws or enacted policies that ban or restrict students' use of cellphones in schools or recommend that local school districts enact their own restrictive policies.
“I strongly believe that any technology used in classrooms needs to be owned by the school or the district, managed by the school or the district, because it's not the technology, it's not the device itself that's the problem. It's the distractive applications that these students are getting on, the TikTok, the Snapchat,” Donalds said.
