Biden kept up his lead from an August poll, falling just two points for a 53% to 43% advantage among registered voters, and leading by 10 points among likely voters.
While Trump holds a 13-point lead among likely male voters, Biden currently leads Trump 65% to 34% among women, with thenoting that Trump's advantage with men is consistent with his performance in 2016 while Biden's support with women is double that of Hillary Clinton's.
Conducted before Trump's nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, the poll found adults trusted Biden to handle filling Ginsburg's vacant seat over Trump by eight points. The election has eschewed typical convention bumps, possibly due to entrenched attitudes among voters: the poll found that nine out of 10 Trump and Biden voters would not consider voting for the other major party.
Despite Trump's unfounded and false attacks on mail-in voting, 52% of registered voters say they will be casting their ballots early or by mail, while 45% will vote on Election Day. Biden also had higher voter trust than Trump on a host off issues including the Covid-19 pandemic, racial injustice in policing and some of the violence that broke out during largely peaceful protests against discrimination. The Supreme Court has become a focal point of the election following the death of Ginsburg on September 18.
