The space has also previously been used as a church
Plans for a former gym that closed during lockdown have been revealed. PF Aesthetics in Lenton was set up by a man who dropped a seven stone after suffering a serious heart attack but closed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Three years later, a scheme that would convert the space, in Willoughby Street, to a commercial laundry business has been submitted to Nottingham City Council. Documents submitted to the council state that the business would involve the sorting, washing, drying and pressing of garments for the healthcare, hospitality and catering sectors.
No customers would visit the site, with clothes being collected and dropped off by the company using a delivery van. The applicant states that three members of staff would be employed at the premises - which would be open Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.The space is part of Castle Buildings, a two-storey building located off the A6130 roundabout. The ground floor and part of the first floor at the front of the building are occupied by retailer Cotswold Outdoor.
Prior to being used as a gym, the property was used for a short period between December 2017 and 2019 as a church without planning permission. A retrospective planning application was submitted by the church in 2018 but was withdrawn when the Church found alternative premises and relocated. Subsequently a different church applied for and obtained planning permission but never moved into the building.
