Age UK said cutting payments of up to £300 this winter for millions of older people is the ‘wrong policy decision’.
The charity Age UK has launched a new online petition calling on Chancellor Rachel Reeves to reverse her decision to make Winter Fuel Payments means-tested. The move will see the number of State Pension ers eligible for the annual heating bill help, worth up to £300, reduced from over 11.1 million to around 1.5m.
The petition continues: “Millions of struggling pensioners won’t receive up to £300 they rely on to pay their bills.
