The new 'code of practice' has been agreed by the British Parking Association and the International Parking Community

New UK-wide regulations are set to transform the landscape for drivers using car parks. The British Parking Association has agreed on a new 'code of practice' that will dictate how traffic wardens issue fines.

The BPA has stated that those who misuse disabled bays without a blue badge will face stringent penalties, while a cap of £100 will be placed on fines, which can be reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. The BPA said in a statement: "The BPA and the IPC have today published the private parking sector single Code of Practice to be used across the entire private parking sector.

Will Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of the IPC, has expressed his support for the new parking regulations, stating: "This new Code will create positive change across the UK, enhancing the protection of the most vulnerable in society, whilst creating consistency and clarity for motorists and continuing to elevate standards across the sector."
