Only the Summer Olympics and men's soccer World Cup are bigger on the world stage.
New Orleans is certainly accustomed to hosting sporting events which draw the attention of a world audience, including Super Bowls, college national championships, heavyweight boxing championships and the like.
It now ranks behind only the Summer Olympics and the FIFA men’s World Cup as the largest sporting events worldwide. With the Rugby World Cup already set to come to the U.S. in 2031, New Orleans officials are hopeful the Caesars Superdome can serve as one of the venues and potentially host the final.
