The incident left at least 15 dead and injured dozens of others early Wednesday, according to city and federal officials.
The suspect, identified by the FBI as Shamsud Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old Army veteran, allegedly fired shots into the crowd over a three-block stretch on the famed thoroughfare. After the vehicle attack, Jabbar exited the truck wielding an assault rifle and opened fire on police officers. Officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
