A new lawsuit claims that legal firearms dealers might be contributing to the problem of illegal firearms.

This practice is called a “straw sale” – when someone who can legally buy a gun does it for someone who, meaning guns oftentimes end up in the hands of people who didn’t provide identification or undergo a background check, because they may not have passed.to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 95% of firearms recovered in Washington, D.C. are purchased elsewhere . Many are found to have been stolen, but more are obtained through these illegal straw sales .

The lawsuit claims Minor repeatedly bought guns from all three shops within days of the previous order. This includes, but is not limited to: one found in the hotel room of a man who also had an illegal large-capacity magazine; one found in the home of a stabbing suspect; and one found in the home of a criminal defendant. Several of the guns are still unaccounted for.federal firearms licensed dealers as the “first line of defense against straw purchasing.”
