Cuyahoga County

CLEVELAND, Ohio – In its first meeting, members of a new Council Juvenile Court Advisory Subcommittee were skeptical that recommendations to improve the county’s juvenile justice system would lead to meaningful change.to review the juvenile justice system and advise how to enhance services and improve youth outcomes, but retired Cleveland Municipal Court administrative judge Ron Adrine, who was elected to chair the body, sought assurances that those recommendations would lead somewhere.

“All six of our judges, I believe, have demonstrated accountability and openness to hear feedback from community members,” Gibbons said. County Councilman Michael Gallagher, who chairs the Public Safety and Justice Affairs Committee that the advisory group reports to, did not deter members from reviewing bindovers, but stressed the need to focus on changes within council’s control.

“We’re just trying to emphasize what’s going on now , tear it apart, put it back together and tell us a better path, if you find it,” Gallagher told the committee. “I think we can all agree, what’s being done now isn’t getting it done.”
