A New Jersey Transit train operator died after a tree fell onto a train in Burlington County early Monday morning, officials say.

New Jersey Transit says a tree hit a River Line train near Roebling Station just after 6 a.m., killing the operator and injuring at least 23 people. More than 40 people were on board the train at the time of the accident, officials said.Service on the River Line is suspended between Florence and Trenton, and officials say they are providing passengers with bus service as a substitute.

Curtis Davis hanged himself, according to the medical examiner, but a new lawsuit alleges negligence by guards and says others played a role as well.The ballot language frustrates advocates who say the wording leaves out the fact that a new measure would enhance the sanitation department’s power fine unlicensed street vendors.
