Latonya Johnson and her daughter Laila Birchett are set to graduate from the Rutgers School of Social Work after arriving at the school together two years ago.

That inspiration Battle acknowledged refers to when Birchett -- who is the second oldest of Johnson's six kids -- decided on the idea of the two going to school together while she was studying at Montclair State University. Johnson and Birchett shared one teacher and different classes. Beyond that, they leaned on each other to manage school and a very busy household.
