Two new initiatives are trying to preserve untold stories that made a major impact on the civil rights movement in Chicago. From Ida B. Wells to Barack Obama, Chicago’s Black history is rich. The initiatives are working to share that history with a broader audience, making sure it’s not forgotten.

Joining “Black Voices” are the Rev. Brian Smith, director of community relations and strategic partnerships at the Chicago Theological Seminary, and Leila Wills, executive director of the Historical Preservation Society of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party and the program manager of Landmarks Illinois.
