This new survival horror title successfully captures the essence of Resident Evil, offering a slow-paced, tense experience with its unique universe, engaging puzzles, and risk-reward combat system. Despite lacking some replayability features and technical issues, the game carves its own identity within the genre.

Resident Evil 's influence has deeply impacted the gaming industry, shaping countless titles across different eras. The T-virus's legacy can be seen in numerous games, particularly in the resurgence of PS1-style horror experiences. However, the influence of the game under discussion is unique. This game, in a surprising turn of events, draws inspiration from games like those in the Resident Evil series, but carves its own path.

Movement in the game is deliberate and weighty, with aiming feeling deliberately sluggish. Players shouldn’t expect to execute flashy maneuvers or fast-paced gunplay. This design choice, rather than being a limitation, is a core element of the game’s tension-building mechanics. The slow, doll-like enemies that advance towards the player force careful threat assessment and precise aiming. The game masterfully avoids overwhelming the player with sudden enemy attacks, allowing for suspenseful encounters as players strategically take down approaching hordes. In stark contrast to a game with faster-paced controls, the player character in this game is not equipped to quickly dispatch enemies. The challenge lies in adapting to the game's deliberate pace while under constant threat, a balance the game achieves perfectly. The thrill of turning a menacing mold monster into a puddle just before a fatal strike is as satisfying as landing the final headshot on an enemy in Resident Evil. The game features its own stalker-like figure, reminiscent of the Bakers from Resident Evil 7. Players must navigate terrifying segments while evading an invincible foe that stalks and taunts them. These sections represent the game's most intense moments, as there’s no way to defeat the relentless pursuer. Furthermore, the game adds to the tension by forcing players to solve puzzles or manually operate mechanisms while being hunted. This design choice, while seemingly devious, is remarkably smart, compelling players to actively engage with the game’s mechanics beyond simply running or hiding. The game cleverly balances these terrifying moments with engaging puzzles. These breaks in the action are surprisingly thought-provoking and add depth to the game's lore. For instance, the vaults that players must break into are integrated into the casino setting and play a key role in the cult's exploitation of the local community. The game isn't a direct copy of the Resident Evil series, but it does borrow its best elements. Despite the game’s engaging campaign, it falls short of the replayability found in Resident Evil titles. It currently lacks a New Game Plus mode, and the character models players can unlock do not enhance the gameplay experience. The game also lacks a Mercenaries mode. Despite having a solid 15-hour campaign, the game's replay value primarily comes from its trophy or achievement list, which, at the time of this writing, is riddled with bugs. The game sometimes arbitrarily closes off pathways, which can be frustrating for players who want to explore and collect everything. It is difficult to predict when these artificial roadblocks will appear, leading players to miss essential upgrades or collectibles if they don't constantly monitor the map. While the inability to revisit previous levels is already odd, the act of restricting exploration within a single level is even stranger, especially when compared to recent Resident Evil titles. The game also introduces its own unique elements. Its universe is a fusion of religious dogma and a setting inspired by Spain. Its history unfolds through visions and diaries, exploring themes of corruption and domination. Despite the challenge of distinguishing between characters in the visions, the world encourages players to delve deeper and learn more. The game also flips the risk-reward dynamic present in many other games. Every shot from a gun literally drains the player's health, creating pressure to conserve ammunition and make every shot count. Combat then becomes a strategic puzzle: Is it worth using the shotgun when resources are low, or should I take the gamble and use a weaker pistol? The reload animations are not only unique and uncomfortable but also add a layer of strategy to the game
