A Houston judge on Monday said he would hold a hearing in December to hear arguments about the Onion's bid to puchase Infowars.
A federal judge Monday said he would not immediately step in to stop The Onion , the satirical news website, from buying Infowars , the right-wing website run by provocateur Alex Jones . U.S. District Judge Christopher Lopez declined to place a temporary restraining order over the results of the auction selling Infowars ’ website, studio and intellectual property and said arguments about the sales process could be hashed out at a hearing to be held in December.

The sale is part of bankruptcy proceedings initiated after Jones was ordered to pay nearly $1.5 billion to families of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that killed 26 people, 20 of whom were children.
Infowars auction could determine whether Alex Jones is kicked off its platforms Murray argued that the Onion’s proposal was a better deal for Jones' creditors. After the bid was announced, Lopez indicated he had some concerns about the transparency of the auction, though he appeared to temper some of his statements during Monday’s hearing and said he wanted to follow the typical pattern of a bankruptcy sale.
