Google is testing a big update for Google Photos that could dramatically improve thhe experience of video playback and navigation within the app., Google Photos will soon receive a revamped video player featuring much-needed quality-of-life improvements that will make it easier to control video playback.Perhaps the most significant upgrade is the new ‘dotted’ seek bar, the control that lets you move backward and forward through a video during playback.

Interestingly, the new seek bar doesn’t appear to indicate your current position in the video, as there’s no longer a dot moving along the line to show you. In the current video player layout, the play/pause button always appears smack in the middle of the video you’re trying to watch. If you pause a video to take a close look, the play button will appear in the center of the screen, obscuring part of the video until you resume playback. The new layout moves this button to the bottom of the screen, out of the way of the picture.
