On May 7, 2025, flyers traveling domestically officially needed to have a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or a passport. Now, nearly one year later, effective Feb. 1, travelers who do not have the property identification will be charged a $45 fee nearly every time they travel.
If you do not have a compliant ID, you will need to fill out an online form with your name, travel date, and pay the fee. Once the fee is paid, you can either print out or take a screenshot of the receipt to show to TSA agents once you get to the airport. Then, your alternative screening and identity verification will begin, and will take 15-30 minutes, according to TSA officials. The $45 fee and online form will be good for 10 days. So, if your trip is longer than 10 days or if you have travel scheduled throughout the year, you will need to pay the fee each time. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is invesigating after two poeple and a dog were found dead from gunshot wounds in rural Pierce County Tuesday afternoon. The PAudit: King County parks grant program needs stronger oversight as funding growsAmazon is slashing about 16,000 corporate jobs in the second round of mass layoffs for the e-commerce company in three months.Federal Way crash involving fleeing suspect backs up I-5 for miles
