New details shed light on the ways Trump's then-chief of staff Mark Meadows tried to inject election conspiracy theories into official government channels
Washington Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows' new cooperation with the January 6 House select committee could give investigators a valuable window into how former President Donald Trump and his allies tried to enlist government officials to pursue baseless election conspiracy theories -- an effort new CNN reporting reveals Meadows was central to in the weeks after the 2020 election.
According to multiple sources, including former Trump officials and others with direct knowledge of what was happening behind the scenes at the White House, Meadows reached out to some of the country's top national security officials in an effort to connect them to Trump allies who were pushing unfounded claims of foreign election interference and voter fraud.
