New Covid Strain discovered In QC
A “more infectious” strain of the coronavirus disease 2019 virus was found in the samples tested by the University of the Philippines-Philippine Genome Center in Quezon City.
“We now report the detection of the D614 variant among nine randomly selected Covid-19 positive samples collected in Quezon City in July. In the month of June, both the D614 as well as the G614 have been detected in a small sample of positive cases,” the PGC said. Meanwhile, Vergeire said a panel of experts is looking into the case of Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, who admitted that he got infected again with Covid-19 on Saturday despite being infected earlier and was asymptomatic.
