Some hospital systems and pharmacies have not yet received new vaccines

YEAH, LORI, THIS IS AN ISSUE NATIONWIDE, NOT JUST HERE IN THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY WHERE A LOT OF PROVIDERS LIKE UPMC SAY THEY ARE STILL WAITING ON DOSES OF THESE NEW VACCINES DELAYED DELIVERIES ARE ALSO AFFECTING PHARMACIES TO EVIDENCE. HERSHEY PHARMACY CHAD BLANCHETT SAYS THE NEW COVID 19 VACCINES HAVE NOT YET ARRIVED YET. AT HERSHEY PHARMACY, BUT HE EXPECTS TO SEE THEM AVAILABLE FOR KIDS AND ADULTS IN THE COMING DAYS. HE SAYS DEMAND IS DEFINITELY PICKING UP.
Dr. John Goldman with UPMC said a change in who is coordinating the purchase and distribution the vaccine — from the government to manufacturers and private insurers — has complicated the process in comparison to other vaccines. Chadd Blannett with Hershey Pharmacy said he expected to receive an updated child vaccine to arrive as early as Tuesday and for adult vaccine supply to arrive next week. He noted that demand for the new vaccines was higher than that of boosters available last year.
