Coronavirus records are now falling in the nation’s largest states.
The Washington PostCoronavirus trends throughout much of the U.S. seemed to be moving in the right direction during late April, with numbers declining after an initial spike in late March and early April, which hit populated urban areas on the East Coast especially hard.
But large gatherings on Memorial Day in popular vacation spots, particularly in the South, worried health officials, and many states have seen a rise in cases since that time. Gov. Greg Abbott in Texas has pointed to Memorial Day as a potential cause for the serious situation the state is now in.The U.S.’s failure to control spread of the coronavirus is coming as a worry to much of the rest of the world, including the European Union.
