Planners give the go-ahead to scheme
More than 1,000 new homes are set to be built at Mosley Common in Wigan . Planners gave the go ahead for Peel Land to create a new community.
It will include new transport infrastructure, play spaces and new educational and community facilities. The site was formally allocated for development under Greater Manchester’s strategic Places for Everyone plan for the next 17 years which was approved in March. Peel Land says it is now moving the project into delivery and is progressing with house-builder partners. Wigan council leader Coun David Molyneux said: “We have worked closely with Peel to consult on and prepare a masterplan for this development, to ensure it delivers real benefits for our borough.
Peel Land’s development planning manager Cerys Huston added: “It is fantastic to have reached the point of securing the planning permissions for Mosley Common. This clears the path to deliver the scheme, contributing towards implementation of Greater Manchester’s Places for Everyone plan, whilst seeking to address the housing crisis and providing new infrastructure and amenities for the community.
“We are now looking to commence site delivery with Wigan council, Transport for Greater Manchester and housebuilding partners. We look forward to seeing the benefits that Mosley Common will bring to Wigan delivered on the ground.” Surveyors Roger Hannah are advising Peel Land.
