During their conversation, they discussed the movie's James Bond reference and Brosnan revealed that it was "completely my idea." He read the moment in the script and saw the way to throw a nod to his former role, knowing it was going to end up in the final cut "as soon as I said it.

It was completely my idea. It wasn’t in the text. There was a gun gag, but it wasn’t in the text that Adam just did his James Bond pose. Once he did that, the lines fell away – and as soon as I said it, I knew it was going to be in the movie. It was just a good moment. Pierce Brosnan's Time As James Bond Explained Many actors have played James Bond over the years. The character, who originated in the Ian Fleming spy novel series of the same name, was originally portrayed onscreen in 1962’s Dr. No by Sean Connery. Connery would go on to reprise the role multiple times before leaving the franchise, at which point Bond was recast with George Lazenby.

Brosnan didn’t take on the role until after both Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton had tried their hand at the iconic character. After Dalton’s final turn in 1989’s Licence to Kill, Brosnan came roaring onto the scene in 1995’s GoldenEye, which was later adapted into the iconic Nintendo 64 game of the same name. His version of Bond appeared in various films over the next decade, namely 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies, 1999's The World is Not Enough, and 2002's Die Another Day.
