Colin Allred is using his TV ads to fight back against claims and accusations made against him in Cruz’s commercials, which he does in “For Texas,” a commercial released. It’s a rather drastic departure from that earlier clip that presented assorted law enforcement officers touting Allred’s tough stance on border security.
Regarding border security, things are a touch murkier when Allred’s entire history is examined, rather than only the recent past. As heard in ads for Cruz, Allredmore than once, although that was as far back as 2018, and Allred has explained in interviews during his current campaign that the comment was in connection to his belief that citizenship should’ve been expanded to “dreamers,” or DACA recipients, and not to a border wall.
More recently, however, Allred has broken with his own party by coming out for a much stronger border security program. In January, Allred was one ofthat was defeated by a number of Republicans, including Cruz, that would’ve provided increased funding and staffing for tighter border security measures.. He’s held the position since November 2022. Since joining the team, Kelly has covered topics such as state and local politics, crime and public safety, education and immigration.
