New Cavs, Cleveland Clinic Cuyahoga Riverfront site given final approval
for the Cleveland Cavaliers training facility was given final approval by the Cleveland City Planning Commission on Friday, paving the way for the “Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center” to become one of the world’s largest training facilities.
The 210,000 square foot facility will be the new practice facility for the Cavs, with available space for athletes from all over the world as well. The Cavs would move from their current practice facility in Independence. The training facility would be the first step in a $3.5B plan from real estate investment firm Bedrock. Construction will take two to three years with an expected opening between 2027 and 2028.
The facility is designed to embrace the river and continue the development of the city while giving residents a new sports medicine facility to utilize.
