Carer Support Payment is a devolved Scottish benefit replacing the DWP's Carer’s Allowance.

Thousands of unpaid carers across Scotland will soon be able to apply for a new devolved benefit, if regulations laid this week in the Scottish Parliament are approved. Carer Support Payment is delivered by Social Security Scotland and will gradually replace Carer's Allowance for nearly 80,000 people living in Scotland.

It’s important to be aware the DWP will continue to pay Carer’s Allowance until the move to Carer Support Payment is completed. Payments will be the same - £81.90 per week. Eligible carers who live in areas where Carer Support Payment is not yet available are being urged to still apply for Carer's Allowance to make sure they don’t miss out on support.

“I am therefore delighted we are ready to roll-out the next phase of Carer Support Payment, allowing thousands more unpaid carers to get the benefit “I urge anyone who lives in an area where Carer Support Payment is available to apply for it as soon as possible.”
