New vehicle sales rose by 27.2 percent year-on-year in February as the auto industry hopes it can exceed pre-pandemic sales levels this 2023.
In February, commercial vehicle sales increased by 29 percent to 23,716 units, accounting for 76.74 percent of the total industry’s sales. This was driven by double-digit growth in sales of Light Commercial Vehicles such as pickup trucks that went up by 20.4 percent to 18,035 and Asian Utility Vehicles that rose by 84.1 percent to 4,896.
Month on month, sales of commercial vehicles grew by 7.8 percent, while passenger car sales declined by 4.22 percent.
