Dean Norris as Hank and Bryan Cranston as Walter White in Breaking Bad
13 years after his character's memorable ending, Dean Norris is returning with a new Breaking Bad project in 2026. Norris played Hank Schrader, DEA Agent and brother-in-law to Walter White in the acclaimed AMC series.
During the final season, Hank finally discovers that Walt is the mysterious drug kingpin known as Heisenberg. Not long after that, in what is widely considered to be an all-time great Breaking Bad episode, Hank is killed, in what is one of the show's most impactful and devastating scenes to watch. On X, Norris announced that he is revisiting the hit show in his new book, Do What You're Gonna Do: The Definitive Oral History of Breaking Bad, which will be available to read on November 3."Do what you're gonna do" is a reference to the last words that Hank says before Jack Welker shoots and kills him in season 5, episode 14,"Ozymandias." The book, which is co-written by Joe Layden, is available for pre-order via Amazon and other retailers, with Norris describing it as a "definitive insider account" featuring new behind-the-scenes stories and exclusive interviews from various members of the cast and crew involved with the making of the show. Check out the cover, which is in the style of the series' opening credits, and the full announcement below: I’m excited to finally share the cover of my new book DO WHAT YOU’RE GONNA DO—the first oral history and definitive insider account of Breaking Bad. From the writers’ room to the desert, this book is packed with never-before-heard stories and exclusive interviews with the incredible people who brought the show to life. If you’re a fan of the show, you’re going to love this one. DO WHAT YOU’RE GONNA DO hits shelves November 3rd. You can preorder now from your favorite retailer via these links. With Better Call Saul having ended and no announced plans to add any additional stories to the narrative that began with Breaking Bad, Norris' new book is the only kind of new and related content on the way. Series creator Vince Gilligan is now focused on making season 2 of Pluribus, his Apple TV science-fiction show led by Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn. A great deal has been revealed over the years about the making of Breaking Bad, but Norris is promising new stories and insights that will deepen the behind-the-scenes lore surrounding the show and that will add more context to what fans already know. While 13 years have passed between"Ozymandias" and the release of Norris' upcoming book, it is not the first time that he has returned to the world of Breaking Bad since then. He reprises the role of Hank in two episodes of Better Call Saul season 5, as the DEA agent crosses paths with Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman and as Domingo Molina/Krazy-8 becomes a DEA informant. Hank was a character who could not be too prominent in the events of the spinoff series, as too much involvement could have potentially undermined the overall canon and what his character does and does know during Breaking Bad. This is also why Walt and Jesse Pinkman do not appear until the sixth and final season. Norris' best-known character is still Hank, but he has played a variety of other roles outside Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. These roles include Big Jim Rennie in Under the Dome, Colonel Richard Williams in The Big Bang Theory, Fenton Glackland in Scandal, General Halt in The Six Triple Eight, Phil Sarkowski in Carry-On, and Randall Stabler in Law & Order: Organized Crime. 314 9.1/10 10/10 Breaking Bad 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-MA Crime Drama Thriller Release Date 2008 - 2013-00-00 Network AMC Showrunner Vince Gilligan Directors Vince Gilligan, Michelle Maclaren Writers Peter Gould, Gennifer Hutchison, Vince Gilligan, George Mastras, Moira Walley-Beckett, Sam Catlin, Thomas Schnauz Cast See All
