Along with potential All-Star Josh Jung, multiple San Antonio-area alumni ball players are making their MLB debut this year.

Jordan Westburg of the Orioles hits a single in the second inning June 27, 2023, against the Cincinnati Reds in Baltimore., could make the All-Star team this year, several more area alumni are joining him in the MLB.

Bryce Miller, a former New Braunfels Unicorn, made his debut in May. Miller seems to be a permanent pitcher with the Seattle Mariners now. Through 11 starts and 59 innings, Miller threw 55 strikeouts with a 3.97 earned run average. Miller now has a 5-3 win-loss record, but he's not the only New Braunfels alum playing in the majors.

The Kansas City Royals recently recalled James McArthur, another pitcher. McArthur made his MLB debut with the Royals on June 28, throwing in one inning and allowing seven runs to the Cleveland Guardians.g was signed from Triple-A Norfolk Tides, making his debut on June 26. Through six games, Westburg hit five times, with three runs batted in and two runs himself. Westburg's also seen two walks and was hit by a pitch. Westburg is batting an average of .263 at age 24.

In the minors, Westburg had a .295 batting average, with 18 home runs and 54 runs batted in through 67 games.
