NEW BRAUNFELS — The New Braunfels Police Department has detained a suspect in connection with a lockdown of New Braunfels High School earlier this month. The 15-year-old male New Braunfels High School student is accused of lying while allegedly making an anonymous tip Sept.
8 that there was a person on campus with a firearm. The tip led to a full-scale response from New Braunfels police and fire departments and surrounding agencies, drawing more than 100 officers, according to a city news release. Later that day the tip was deemed not credible by the police department, and an investigation into who made the tip was launched. Today the student was detained and charged with false alarm or report, the city said, which is a state jail felony punishable by 180 days to up to two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000.
