The new council member will join a new mayor and another rookie representative to manage the rapidly growing city.
Of the district’s 9,582 registered voters, 2.81 percent turned out to the polls, according to final and unffocial results.
District 6 was guaranteed a new representative, as incumbent council member James Blakely came in third during the first round. Ryan garnered the most in the“I am beyond honored to have this opportunity to represent my community and serve as the next City Council member,” Ryan wrote in a Facebook post celebrating her victory. “Congratulations to my opponents on a race well run. Thank you New Braunfels! Now let’s get to work.
Ryan graduated from New Braunfels High School and studied at the University of Oregon before returning to the city in 2009, according to herRyan joins New Braunfels Mayor Neil Linnartz and District 5 City Council member Mary Ann Labowski as the newest members on the council, as they won their spots during the general election on May 6.
The three new council members will begin work on managing New Braunfels’ rapid growth and the problems that follow. The city's population increased from 57,740 in 2010 to 104,707 in 2022 and 14.3 percent from 2020 to 2022, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
