There's a flash flood watch for Friday night through Saturday night for the San Antonio metro area.

Shortly after the National Weather Service on Thursday afternoon issued a flood watch for South Central Texas for this evening through Saturday evening, the city of New Braunfels urged residents to pay attention to its sirens should river flooding occur. At the same time, Comal County has warned its residents not to rely on its warning sirens along the length of the Guadalupe River to city limits during this weekend’s weather event.Comal County said there have been reliability issues with the eight sirens that run along the length of the Guadalupe River. The county recently took over maintenance of those sirens and are working to address software and equipment failure issues.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we ask the public not to rely upon warning sirens during this weekend’s weather events,” the county said in a statement. NWS is predicting heavy rains in San Antonio and across much of South Central Texas, beginning tonight and lasting through the weekend. The government forecaster is predicting a widespread 3 to 6 inches of rain along the Interstate 35 corridor and west to the Rio Grande from tonight through Saturday.The city of New Braunfels said it is “closely monitoring weather conditions” and is prepared for the possibility of opening its emergency operations center.
