Since the start of this fiscal year, more than 200 known or suspected terrorists have already been caught trying to enter the U.S. through the Southern border.
FILE - Border Patrol agents ask asylum-seeking migrants to line up in a makeshift, mountainous campsite after the group crossed the border with Mexico, Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, near Jacumba Hot Springs, Calif. Since the start of this fiscal year, more than 200 known or suspected terrorists have already been caught trying to enter the country through the Southern border.
In an effort to address this issue, Congressman Roger Williams, R-Texas, introduced a bill requiring every migrant entering the U.S. illegally to go through a federal terror watchlist screening. “If you’re ISIS and you want to attack the United States, you say 'Hey we got to get ten people in there to do an attack. Well, it’s easy, let’s just send them across the Southern border," Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said.who claims ties to the terror organization Hezbollah. Court documents reveal he told medical staff he came to America "to build a bomb," later backtracking and telling federal investigators he was "only joking.
"There are a whole host of threats that emanate from the border. We have concerns it could be a vulnerability that terrorist organizations could seek to exploit," FBI Director Christopher Wrayto apprehend two million migrants. But, it's the 140,000 known "got-aways" from the past few months that worries U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens.
“That is what keeps us up at night. That is a national security threat. Border security is a big piece of national security and we, we don’t know who is coming into our country and we don’t know what their intent is. That is a threat," Owens said.On Thursday, House Speaker Mike Johnson informed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer the impeachment articles would be sent to the Senate on April 10.
