Metro Mayor confirms Headbolt Lane will welcome passengers for the first time this week
The newest £80m train station in Kirkby will open its doors to services for the first time later this week.
Mr Rotheram said he hoped people would agree the new station was “worth the wait” with ground initially being broken on site back in March 2022. It was beset by issues caused by the collapse of the Buckingham Group into administration in August. Mr Rotheram said: “As a Kirkby native, I know how long local people have been talking about a station at Headbolt Lane. Thanks to devolution and the power it gives us to shape our own destiny, we’ve turned that talk into reality.
