Man United remain the subject of interest from Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
Former captain Gary Neville has suggested that Manchester United would be under greater scrutiny than either Manchester City or Newcastle United if the club was sold to Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
Despite Sheikh Jassim emerging as the most likely buyer, with Ratcliffe targeting a majority stake, concerns have been raised within United's fan base and further afield about the club having connections with Qatar. As a result, Neville believes the prospect of his former club having Qatari ownership would attract plenty of attention.
"The Premier League is an incredible product: it's loved around the world, it's brilliant to watch, the stadiums are high quality... it's miles ahead of the other leagues in terms of revenue. But it must maintain its competitive balance at the national level and we also need there to be a competitive balance at the international level in the other European leagues.
"I hope the new owners can establish the right culture at the club and do the right thing to give Erik ten Hag the money needed to get the club back to where he needs to be."
