Never too old: Hole-in-one a long time coming for 91-year-old Ray Pilkey yxe
Pilkey — who hits it straight as an arrow, rarely loses any golf balls — couldn’t find his ball following his tee shot on No. 15, which was playing 159 yards out from the seniors’ red forward tees on that day.
“I drove up to the front of the green and I couldn’t find the ball anywhere or see it on the green, so I drove around to the back and I looked around all over and I couldn’t find it so I thought, well, I knew it was in line with the hole. So I thought I’d better look in the hole and, sure enough, there it was.”
“This is the only place I’ve been a member. I used to go to Holiday Park, but somebody talked me to coming over here , so I came over here and I’ve been here ever since.” “You might say that — as it turns out, there were actually very few people around,” chuckled Pilkey. “But I have bought some of my friends and I still owe a few people yet.
