Campbell's decision to turn down the initial offer was based on her belief that her value to the franchise was greater than what had been proposed.
'When I made that decision, I just didn't think I could live with myself walking on set,' she said. 'I just didn't feel right. I just knew that my value to this franchise was bigger than what had been offered. For me, I needed to make that choice.
' Meanwhile, Courteney Cox, who plays Gale Weathers, will also return, having earned $2 million for her role. The return of these original cast members is sure to add a nostalgic touch to the new film. The plot of Scream 7 is still under wraps, but director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin has teased that the story will explore the question 'What's the next chapter going to be about?
' and that the idea for the new film came from a group brainstorming session. 'And you just start spit-balling,' said Williamson. 'And Neve had this great idea, and everyone seemed to run with it. ' The film is set to hit theaters this weekend, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release.
