After giving Scream 6 a wide berth, and Scream 7's own behind-the-scenes turmoil, the horror franchise's original star is returning, along with its co-creator.

While Scream fans have had a bumpy ride as of late, with reboot star Melissa Barrera’s abrupt departure from the series, followed by newly hired Scream 7 director Christopher Landon, there’s finally some good news to sink a butcher knife into. Neve Campbell, who passed on Scream 6 following a pay dispute, is indeed returning to the series—and she’ll be directed by Kevin Williamson, who penned Wes Craven’s original Scream film.
