Federal prosecutors say Peter Lucas, 35, stole at least four boxes each containing 50 surgical masks from the facility in March.
A Reno, Nevada, man is accused of stealing around 200 surgical masks from a Veterans Affairs medical center last month, prosecutors said.
He is charged with one count of theft of health care property, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. "We will not allow the theft of personal protective equipment to go undeterred, endangering the safety of doctors, nurses and other health professionals protecting our communities," Trutanich said.
