The Spanish-language sports drama series revolves around a group of young athletes as they train at the prestigious Pirineos High Performance Center.
Now, Netflix has decided not to move forward with a second season. The decision comes six months after all eight season 1 episodes came to the streaming platform on June 20. General audiences responded well to Olympo and gave it a 75% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics had a less favorable response, leading to a 43% critical score, although this is only based on seven reviews. The cast of characters was led by Clara Galle as Amaia Olaberria, the captain of the swim team who has high expectations for herself. Amaia's perspective is challenged when newcomer Zoe Moral defeats her in a race, and Zoe has a secret of her own that has massive implications. Along with receiving praise for some of the unexpected and satisfying plot twists, the show received recognition for its LGBTQ+ representation. This was part of several major storylines, including for the openly gay rugby player Roque Perez .
